You are the future, the immense morning sky
turning red over the prairies of eternity.

There is no self is a long-term project set in the historic quarry landscapes of northern Italy.
The work is a meditation on the human need to leave a mark, the restless striving to be continuous, to be permanent — and on our relationship with a landscape that outlasts us.
How do we define ourselves with no name, no job, no wishes, no feelings to call our own?
I searched these places on foot, meeting people among ancient stones, within the silent boundaries of a quarry that stretched across the land without end.
I found that without the other, there is no self.
